Over the past year, our firm has been joined by four highly accomplished lawyers: Katherine Reilly, Kerri Crawford, Thea Hoogstraten, and Trevor Wilson. We are very proud of the contributions they have made and will continue to make to the firm as we continue to add to our depth of experience in order to best serve our valued clients.

Katherine (Kat) Reilly was called to the BC bar in 2007 and is widely regarded as an effective advocate, communicator, and negotiator. Prior to joining SMS Law, she worked as senior counsel with the BC Ministry of Attorney General where she represented the Province in high-profile and precedent-setting litigation including numerous injunction-related matters.

Kerri Crawford offers a full suite of labour and employment-related services, including with respect to contract and policy drafting, civil litigation, arbitrations, grievances, and Human Rights Tribunal, Labour Relations Board, and Employment Standards Branch matters. In addition, she advises on workplace investigations, human rights complaints, WorkSafe matters, WCAT appeals, privacy issues, and more.

Thea Hoogstraten maintains a diverse litigation and administrative law practice with a focus on human rights, appellate advocacy, police law and defamation. Before joining SMS Law, Thea practiced at leading Vancouver litigation firms and clerked at the British Columbia Court of Appeal.

Trevor Wilson recently joined SMS as an associate on both the litigation and solicitor teams, after having completed his articles with the firm. Trevor received his Juris Doctor from Thompson Rivers University and was recently called to the B.C. Bar.
